Job Title: Community Engagement and Workforce Manager
Supervisor: Clinic Director
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week; Includes mornings, evenings & weekends

The Community Engagement and Workforce Manager will be responsible for oversight of community-based and workforce programs at the Women’s Community Clinic. This position is responsible for executing program goals and activities for community-based programs that reach underserved, homeless/marginally housed, and/or public housing residents in the Western Addition and Mission neighborhoods of San Francisco. This position also works closely with other clinic staff to oversee Clinical and Outreach Health Worker programs.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Community Engagement and Workforce Management – 50%
- Manage and oversee programmatic operations and activities for: Western Addition and Mission community-based programs and Clinical and Outreach Health Worker programs.
- Provide oversight and accountability for: goals, strategies, objectives, and work plans for community engagement and workforce programs.
- Provide oversight of performance metrics, monitor progress, and report on outcomes for community engagement and workforce programs.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures and engage in ethical practices.
- Participate in assigned Clinic Committees and workgroups including chairing organizational Workforce Committee.
- Collaborate with Clinical staff towards the development of innovative workforce programming and support development of training, curricula and certification for Clinical and Outreach Health Workers.
- Support the integration of culturally responsive community engagement partnerships.
- Facilitate regular team meetings and collaborate with Community Engagement and Workforce staff to plan various events and trainings for staff and for community members.
Supervision, Professional Development and Coaching – 30%
- Hire and manage a team of staff to deliver high-quality results that further the Clinic’s mission.
- Provide ongoing recognition, feedback and support to develop team members’ professional skills.
- Set meaningful goals with all team members and conduct regular staff performance reviews to assess progress.
- Coach Workforce Coordinator and Community Engagement and Workforce Coordinator on training, supervision, and evaluation of Clinical and Outreach Health workers including managing supervision challenges up to termination.
Clinical Health Worker Shift – 10%
Weekly 4-hour Clinical shift with the following responsibilities:
- Clinic preparation: Set up, clean, and restock exam rooms for client visits; clean and sterilize lab and medical equipment.
- Client visits: Collect and enter client vitals and relevant visit information; provide client education, screening, and counseling as needed; accurate data entry in Electronic Health Record; work with visit team in Huddles and throughout the shift.
- Lab Work: Run in-house lab tests, accurately prepare lab packages to be sent out, assure correct data entry in Electronic Health Record.
- Attend all mandatory Clinical Health Worker trainings.
Financial and Data Management – 10%
- Oversee community engagement and workforce grant activities and reporting.
- Manage programmatic budgets in partnership with supervisor and maintain program expenditures within established parameters.
- Provide monthly reporting for partner subcontracts and deliverables.
- Support data collection and reporting for Clinic grants, reports, and newsletters.
- Work with Development staff and supervisor to develop communications about community engagement and workforce to diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to the mission and goals of the Women’s Community Clinic.
- Bachelor’s degree or minimum 4-year equivalent work experience in community health or social service settings.
- Experience working with any or all of the following populations: low-income/underserved individuals and communities, homeless or marginally-housed women, injection drug users, sex workers, SRO/public housing residents, people experiencing mental illness or trauma.
- A minimum of 3 years direct staff supervision; supervision within a non-profit organization and team-oriented environment a plus. Including demonstrated effective coaching and mentoring experience.
- Strong demonstrated experience in program management; developing program/project infrastructure and workflows; and developing and facilitating program curriculum and trainings.
- Strong demonstrated experience and knowledge in: conflict resolution; maintaining appropriate boundaries with community members; cultural competency and equity.
- Strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel); Project management software (Excel, Basecamp, Roadmap).
- A minimum of one year of experience working closely with electronic health records and practice management systems.
- A minimum of one year of experience providing direct clinical services to patients within a healthcare setting.
- Able to pass the Covered California Assister Certification program.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Desire to work in a culturally sensitive and client centered setting.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

- Ability to work independently as well as on a team, prioritizing workflow to meet critical deadlines and paying close attention to detail work.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to support collegiality in a small office.
- Commitment to working in an environment offering the full-scope of pregnancy options counseling.
- Willingness to be an ambassador on behalf of the Women’s Community Clinic understanding that all staff contribute towards tasks related to promoting and fundraising for the Clinic.
Salary and Benefits:
- The Clinic provides a competitive total compensation package at the mid-range of the San Francisco nonprofit and healthcare labor markets. The salary range for this position is $58,000-60,000, depending on experience.

Typical physical demands:
- Requires prolonged sitting for up to 3 hours at a time
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.
- Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.
- Requires dexterity to type for up to 3 hours at a time
