The ideal fundraiser combines something you already love with a charity you want to support. And last week, Women’s Community Clinic benefited from an exclusive shopping event from luxury retailer Jimmy Choo shoes, with a portion of proceeds going to the Clinic. Shoe shopping and women’s health? That’s a win-win.
The shopping event was organized and hosted by six “Women of Influence”, all of whom attended the Biotech Showcase, one of the largest biotech conferences in the U.S, held from January 12-14th in San Francisco. The conference brings together biotech industry leaders from all over the world for three days of panels, networking, and presentations.
The event, held on January 14th at the McGloughlin Gallery on Geary Street, was well attended by an invitation only set of approximately 75 women in top-leadership roles in business, technology, and healthcare industries. While the shoppers perused the Jimmy Choo 2015 Cruise Collection of shoes and handbags, Jimmy Choo kicked back 10% of the proceeds to the Clinic’s Primary Care Program. Launched last year, our Primary Care program reaches hundreds of women for a range of general health and wellness concerns, from colds and flus, to scrapes and rashes, to care for chronic diseases, and more. Shoppers at this event raised more than $2,600, just 10% of total sales in shoes!
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to host committee members Deborah Marshall, Monica Beam, Joyce Reitman, Molly Ingraham, Joyce Maroon, & Laura Raynak for organizing the event and for choosing the Women’s Community Clinic as this year’s beneficiary. We also thank Jimmy Choo store manager Eric Thorne forhelping coordinate this fundraiser.
